DevOps is Crazy and Reckless… or is it? - Jim Bird

We’ve all heard about “DevOps” by now, and how it is transforming IT service delivery. Organizations like Netflix and Amazon and Google are pushing changes directly to production 100s or even 1000s of times every day. Developers are creating their own run-time environments using cloud templates and containers using “infrastructure as code”, eliminating friction and delays – but introducing new operational and security risks.
How can you understand and control what’s going on in an environment that is continuously changing? How does compliance and security keep up with “continuous deployment”? What problems do you have when developers are made responsible for running the code that they build?
We’ll look at how top performing organizations are taking advantage of DevOps to significantly reduce operational risks at high velocity and extreme scale. And we’ll walk through how to build security and compliance and operational risk management controls into DevOps workflows and continuous delivery pipelines.
